Hello everyone.
It is said
that a movie-club without a blog is not the same, so I am writing this in order
to check it.
Last
Saturday we watched Terminator.
On last
Saturday we invited the other members of our club to our house. What movie
could we chose? There are so many great films, but they would like them. Which
one should be the first? Could we decide without arguing?
As always
stopmoney, the person I am in love with, had the solution. Both of us should
make a list of five to ten films and the movie that was in all the list would
be the winner.
I am not
very clever but when I was finishing my list I knew that “The Terminator” was
going to be our election.
It is a
great movie, directed in 1984 by James Cameron before being famous. It is a
science fiction thriller with one of the most threatening enemy you can have “a
cyborg”. In my opinion the best role of Schwarzenegger ever. It has a good
script that allows you to discuss about what is first the egg or the chicken
and things like that. The action scenes and rapid pacing are amazing you can
see how good was Cameron (as in Alien 2 also).
I haven’t
seen it in the last 10 or 20 years so I had blend some images from the second
and the first terminators, but I enjoyed a lot watching at it again. It is an 80`s
film so is quite violent, Schwarzenegger's slamming brutally into anything that
gets in his way: I think that nowadays they would take off some of this images.
Nevertheless there are some great images, like when you are looking through the
Cyborg eyes all in red or the hand of the Terminator trying to catch Sara Conor
this one was copy in “the Curse of the black pearl”.
We saw a
very unusual making of the movie (well indeed is about terminator 2), It is
only available in Spanish. You can see in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS1dCPHU1gE
All in all
a great film with a great company, and always is an extra point to see the 80`s
hairdressers, people listen to walkman and not being able to use a mobile
phone. All of these very weird for my children ;-)
I am
thinking about my new list……
Hello
ResponderEliminarFirst of all, thank you for the movie, and for the post. Great both.
I must say that when you presented the film, saying that it was the unique than was on both list, Javier and Mari Jose, I was completely lost. I never thought that Mari Jose would like this kind of movie, but I am seeing that this Cineclub is going to bring us a lot of surprises.
I also find "Terminator" amazing. The time falls and the script catched me the first time I saw it, and, the more times I see the movie, the more fascinating details I find. Of course, Shwarzenegger is the best. He kills everything that moves, as only in the 80´s movies could be, and create a wonderful characther to the history. And, what a ass to break nuts!
The movies set on the 80´s, are also very curious. I love these hairstyles and people smoking everywhere! Because, we want to admitt it or not, we lived and we are the 80´s.
Summarizing, I enjoyed the movie a lot, and I am looking forwad for the next session.
